In the Yerköy region of Yozgat, one of the most significant issues is the narrow range of agricultural products due to climatic conditions.

The aim of the projects is to develop beekeeping, which has significant potential in the region, to increase the income levels of producers and create employment, to provide producers with beekeeping materials that allow them to engage in organic beekeeping economically, to diversify the products produced in organic beekeeping, to increase producers’ incomes, and to improve their marketing capabilities.

The project locations are the districts of Sorgun, Sarıkaya, Saraykent, and Akdağmadeni in Yozgat province. Planned to be initiated on a pilot basis, the project aims to reduce the high rate of calf mortality experienced in cattle farming, minimize diarrhea-related calf deaths, and contribute to the national economy.

In the region, which historically had a viticulture culture, vineyards were abandoned due to diseases that emerged because the old-type rootstocks were ungrafted.

In the project area, there is a pond constructed in 1990 for irrigation purposes and a closed irrigation system facility built in 2019.

A significant portion of animal slaughter in the region still takes place in small and primitive slaughterhouses, with meat and meat products often being produced under conditions that are not hygienically or technologically adequate. Small-scale operations lack cooling units, preventing carcass maturation, creating challenges in preserving internal organs, and resulting in the underutilization of by-products. Additionally, carcasses, hides, and internal organs are transported in unsuitable vehicles.
