The project was initiated with the aim of establishing a safe transportation system by minimizing fatal and injury-causing traffic accidents in the provinces of Aksaray, Karaman, Konya, and Niğde, addressing the critical issue of “Traffic Safety,” one of the most important challenges facing our country.

This project aims to comprehensively examine the components that constitute traffic safety in the provinces of the KOP Region (Aksaray, Karaman, Konya, and Niğde), consult with relevant institutions and organizations on the subject, and develop a strategic roadmap to assist these institutions in their work on traffic safety. The project also aimed to develop alternative modes of transportation and ensure safer traffic circulation in the region, thereby minimizing fatal and injury-causing traffic accidents and achieving a safe transportation system.

The 5E approach was adopted in the project work. This approach encompasses Engineering, Education, Enforcement, Energy, and Environment.

Within the scope of the project

The causes of accidents were identified through on-site inspections in the provinces of the KOP Region.

The current situation was assessed by obtaining the necessary information from institutions such as Provincial Municipalities, KGM, JGM, and EGM.

Surveys were conducted with personnel from these institutions to identify problems.

Various analyses were conducted to determine the factors threatening traffic safety in each province, and solutions were proposed.

Simulations were conducted to identify areas with heavy traffic flow at locations with high accident rates in KOP provinces.

A total of 126,900 TL was spent on the project, which was implemented between 2015 and 2016.
