KOP Invests 98 Million TL in Niğde

A signing ceremony was held in Ankara for projects to be supported in Niğde by the Konya Plain Project (KOP) Regional Development Administration under the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The event took place at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, with the participation of Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır.

Attendees at the ceremony included Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Niğde Governor Cahit Çelik, Niğde Mayor Emrah Özdemir, and KOP Regional Development Administration President Dr. Murat Karakoyunlu.

The cooperation protocol was signed by Dr. Murat Karakoyunlu and Governor Cahit Çelik. The projects, with a total investment budget of 98 million TL, cover key areas such as irrigation infrastructure and ecotourism development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Karakoyunlu stated:

"Together with our Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Niğde Governor Mr. Cahit Çelik, we signed a protocol for vital projects in Niğde with a total budget of 98 million TL. I hope these projects will bring prosperity to our province, region, and country."

Dr. Karakoyunlu also shared details on the four major projects to be implemented under the protocol, emphasizing the goal of strengthening agricultural irrigation and ecotourism infrastructure in Niğde:

"Modern Irrigation System for Çamardı (Hanyazı)"

“With the Niğde Çamardı Central (Hanyazı) Phase I Above-Ground Irrigation Facility Project, we are transforming a 220-hectare area from open concrete channels to a closed pipeline system with 10,492 meters of pipes. With a budget of 44.7 million TL, this project is expected to create 206 jobs and generate an annual income increase of approximately 99 million TL.”

"Solving Water Shortages for Livestock in Çiftehan"

“In the Çiftehan area of Ulukışla district, we will invest 5.59 million TL in livestock drinking water facilities. The project includes a 300-ton water tank, 10 troughs, about 9 km of closed water transmission lines, and energy dissipation structures to address one of the key challenges in animal husbandry. Around 40 farming families will directly benefit, with projected annual income gains exceeding 11.7 million TL.”

"Left Bank Irrigation Modernization in Dündarlı"

“As a continuation of last year’s Right Bank project, we are allocating 33.06 million TL for the Dündarlı Left Bank Above-Ground Irrigation Facility Project. The project will install 6,721 meters of pipe to modernize irrigation on 115 hectares. It is expected to generate employment for 108 people and increase annual income by around 47.5 million TL.”

"Promoting Cultural Heritage and Ecotourism in Yeşilburç"

“In Yeşilburç, a historic village just 1.5 km from Niğde city center, we aim to enhance ecotourism. The area, known historically as the Greek village ‘Tenee,’ includes 26 registered examples of civil architecture. Our project, in cooperation with Niğde Governorship, features square landscaping, local product sales units, info areas, recreation zones, and street restoration. The initiative has a budget of 15 million TL.”

Dr. Karakoyunlu concluded by underlining that the investments go beyond infrastructure, reflecting the integrated KOP model that supports production, tourism, cultural heritage, and rural life. He emphasized that these strategic steps in Niğde will significantly contribute to rural development and regional prosperity.
