Due to the majority of agricultural lands in the region being arid and the low annual precipitation levels, the majority of cultivated agricultural areas consist of cereal farming. Grain production holds particular importance in Konya, as the province hosts numerous industrial investments based on grain processing.
The use of high-quality seeds has led to a yield increase of nearly 25%, further emphasizing the importance of certified seed usage. Across the country, the prices of currently produced seeds have exceeded the purchasing power of farmers, and due to recent droughts, the income levels of farmers in the district have generally declined. This has forced farmers to rely on their own produce for seed selection.
For farmers to use their own products as seeds, they must be cleaned and treated according to specific standards. Through this project, the cost of seeds—an essential requirement in cereal farming—will decrease, and the yield per decare will increase due to the use of higher-quality seeds. Consequently, farmers' income and welfare levels will rise, thereby contributing to the national economy.
