Due to the majority of agricultural lands being arid and the low annual precipitation level, approximately 40% of cultivated agricultural areas are dedicated to the production of pulses such as chickpeas, lentils, and beans.

Within the framework of the “Regulation on General and Special Hygiene Rules for Small-Capacity Slaughterhouses,” a modular slaughterhouse with a daily slaughter capacity of 8 large livestock or 24 small livestock has been established.

The most important source of income in Çekerek district is agriculture and livestock farming. There is no small or large-scale industry in the district. Due to its location, the district is situated in a rural area.

The beneficiary of the project, S.S. Demiryurt Agricultural Development Cooperative, was established in 2005 in Demiryurt Village with 30 members. At that time, the cooperative benefited from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s 30x10 investment program (10 cattle for each of 30 families) and began production in a shared barn.

With this project, in the province of Karaman, where livestock activities and movements are intensive, it is planned to establish a new livestock market in place of the existing and unhealthy market, within the framework of the “Regulation on Licensing and Inspection Procedures for Livestock Sales Places”, in order to ensure animal health and disease control and to develop the trade of livestock, meat, and milk.

Through this project, the primary aim is to meet the seedling needs for vegetables, flowers, etc., first in Meram District and subsequently in Konya and surrounding provinces, thereby activating local potential. It also seeks to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources locally, enhance the competitiveness of producers, and promote the economic and social integration of vegetable-growing farmers. Within the scope of the project, a 3,000 m² seedling production greenhouse has been established for seedling cultivation.
