Due to the majority of agricultural lands being arid and the low annual precipitation level, approximately 40% of cultivated agricultural areas are dedicated to the production of pulses such as chickpeas, lentils, and beans.

In the region, which historically had a viticulture culture, vineyards were abandoned due to diseases that emerged because the old-type rootstocks were ungrafted.

Due to the majority of agricultural lands in the region being arid and the low annual precipitation levels, the majority of cultivated agricultural areas consist of cereal farming. Grain production holds particular importance in Konya, as the province hosts numerous industrial investments based on grain processing.

Among the agricultural products produced in Aksaray, the most widely cultivated and preferred for snacks are sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. With the integrated seed facility established through this project, the products are collected directly from farmers with minimal handling. Inside the facility, the products are dried at the correct temperature in a drying machine, ensuring that their color and quality remain unchanged. This allows the processing, which would normally take weeks, to be completed in the shortest possible time. Farmers are able to sell their products shortly after harvest, increasing the market value of their produce.

Through this project, it is aimed to record unexpected meteorological events, which have accelerated particularly in recent years due to climate change, and to establish a necessary database for analyzing the new climate structure. This initiative intends to minimize production losses caused by climate events such as frost, excessive rainfall, drought, etc., during the production processes of all producers.

The “Niğde Ulukışla Darboğaz II. Phase PWS Irrigation Facility” project, which was included in the Investment Program within the scope of KÖSİP 2022, is at the contract stage. The project covers different fields and resources compared to the project implemented in 2021.
